An innovative 24-hour fundraiser has given Ormiston Families supporters a chance to show their love for our work – and ended up raising more than £7,000.
Our One Day Appeal took place on Tuesday, October 15, and gave supporters a 24-hour window to make a donation in support of our work with families across the East of England.
The appeal was the brainwave of fundraiser Vicky Matthews, who said it was borne out of listening to supporters’ feedback.
“People love taking part in our events but we also heard from supporters that sometimes they just wanted to support what we do without jumping out of a plane or running the London Marathon,” she said.
“We’re obviously always on the lookout for donations, so we thought that putting on a giving day where we could really tell our story and ask for donations might encourage people to support us – and it seemed to make a big impact.”
The Ormiston Families team were busy at their Ipswich HQ on the day and were even joined by labrador Harry, who kept motivation high.
The day saw a flurry of social media activity with stories shared around many of Ormiston Families’ services.
Social media posts highlighting our services’ vital work sparked a steady stream of donations and the day ended with £7,437 in the appeal pot.
Vicky added: “It was a great day and a fantastic amount to raise in just 24 hours.
“We’re so grateful to our supporters for donating to the One Day Appeal as their money will make a big difference to the thousands of families we work with.”
