September saw our fundraising and events teams back on the case making sure that we carried on the momentum of a brilliant summer.

It was an extremely busy month for us, and we’re delighted to have raised much-needed funds for our services.

Did you attend our Walk with a Fork 2023 event?

We were thrilled to welcome almost 300 supporters to our wonderful Walk with a Fork fundraising event at Helmingham Hall in Suffolk.

The weather held out and there was a great atmosphere as guests joined us for a 6-mile walk around the estate, seeing the wonderful views of this beautiful property.

When our walkers reached the finish line, they could make the most of delicious food from local producers while enjoying a host of music and entertainment at our new event village.

We loved the celebratory atmosphere, it was such an enjoyable experience and it was a great way to get to know some of our supporters while raising awareness of our services.

We want to share a huge thank you to everyone who bought a ticket – your support helps us to continue to deliver our vital services to children and families across the East of England.

High Sheriff visit and award

Our Felixstowe Road offices in Ipswich received a special visit from the High Sheriff of Suffolk, Mark Pendlington. Not only did he look around our offices, meet the team and learn more about the services that we deliver across the county, but he also presented us with an award for our work in the community.

It’s always nice to know that other people value our services and understand how we make a difference to those in need and we were delighted to welcome the High Sheriff to the offices.

Hear about the realities of life behind bars with our lecture

Our annual lecture this year will be hosted by former MP, prisoner and chaplain Jonathan Aitken.

Mr Aitken will be joined by HMP Pentonville’s Governor Ian Blakeman and Custody Manager Neil Fraser, lifting the lid on mental health in prisons and Pentonville’s transformative approach to the care of neurodiverse prisoners.

They will give a detailed insight into what life really is like behind bars for both the offender and the impact on families.

A huge congratulations to our Ipswich half marathon runners

We’d like to publicly offer a massive well done to Harrison, Gurmail and Daniel from our charity partners Seven Resourcing who completed the Ipswich Half Marathon while fundraising for Ormiston Families.

Daniel told us: “I finished the run last year in 2:24 and improved to finish in 1:55 this year! Both times I’ve felt a huge sense of achievement, especially because of the amount of money we’ve managed to raise!”

We are always grateful for our incredible volunteers’ unwavering efforts. However, we also realise that without your constant assistance and hard work, we could never accomplish even half of what we do.

We are always looking for new volunteers to expand our services. You don’t have to commit to a set amount of time; even a few hours will do, whether you’re helping to distribute flyers about our services or marshalling an event.
